Encouraging Communication Skills at Home

At the beginning of the school year all families completed an ASQ-3 screener defining the developmental milestones each student demonstrates in their home environment.  Our teachers use this valuable information to design instruction around children's strengths and opportunities for growth.  One key element of development identified in the ASQ-3 is COMMUNICATION.

Talking with your children is so important! Trends in the amount of talk, vocabulary growth and style of interaction are established at a young age.  As a caregiver this is an area of development where your impact is significant.  The fun activities listed below are appropriate to try with your preschooler, as well as younger children in your care.
